Chess for Hope – 55+ Charitable Chess Challenge
Chess for Hope is a student-led charitable chess event organized by Sougoto Das Chakrabarty from Sheldon Williams High School. This special event invites participants aged 55+ to enjoy a day of chess, social interaction, and friendly competition while supporting a meaningful cause. Event highlights include: • Opening remarks and guest speech • Friendly 10-minute rapid chess games • Tea break and social time • Charity mini auction • Simultaneous chess exhibition with Tobias Salked (National Candidate Master) • Closing remarks and prize presentation Registration is free and donations are welcome at the event. 2026 Saskatoon Regional Scholastic Chess Tournament
New players are welcome and encouraged 5-7 rounds depending on section size Chess tournament rules apply Chess clocks used for grades 3-12 Game time is 25 minutes + 5 second delay per move Round 1: 9:45 - 10:45 Round 2: 10:45 - 11:45 Lunch Break : 11:45 - 12:45 Round 3: 13:00 - 14:00 Round 4: 14:00 - 15:00 Round 5: 15:00 - 16:00 Provincial Championship Qualification Notice The 2026 Saskatchewan Provincial Chess Championship, scheduled for March 8, 2026, is open only to players who have qualified through an approved regional scholastic tournament. All participants in the Provincial Championship must have competed in at least one of the following qualifying events: 2025 Regina Saskatchewan Scholastic Chess Regional Tournament (CYCC Qualifier) – November 30, 2025 Saskatoon Saskatchewan Scholastic Chess Tournament (CYCC Qualifier) – October 19, 2025 2025 Regina Back-to-School Scholastic Chess Tournament – September 6, 2025 2026 Saskatoon Regional Scholastic Chess Tournament – March 1, 2026 Players who have not participated in one of the above regional qualifier events are not eligible to register for the Provincial Championship. This event serves as an official regional qualifier for the 2026 Saskatchewan Provincial Chess Championship.
2026 SK Provincial Chess Championship
To participate in the Provincial Championship, players must have competed in one of the regional tournaments. The top player in each grade at Provincials will be invited to Team Saskatchewan to represent the province at the Canadian Chess Challenge (CCC) in Winnipeg, MB, from May 17 to 19, 2026.
